Fan of the Week Spotlight, NUGA FISU Student Ambassador Kolawole Esther
At the Nigerian University Games Association NUGA, we remain committed to recognising and celebrating students who contribute meaningfully to the growth of university sports beyond the field of play.
For this spotlight, Kolawole Esther is recognised for her impact, dedication, and growing influence within the university sports ecosystem.
A student of the University of Ilorin with a background in Sport Administration and Sport Physiotherapy, Esther has distinguished herself through her commitment to advancing structured and inclusive sports systems. Her interest in indoor sports, alongside her academic and professional pursuits, reflects a well rounded engagement within the university sports space.
Her journey within university sports has been marked by consistent involvement and growth. She has served as a volunteer at the NUGA Games Lagos 2022 and as an international volunteer at the FASU Games 2024. She has also worked as an Administrative Assistant with NUGA and as Chief Medical Officer for the Unilorin League, contributing to both operational and athlete welfare aspects of sports development.
Currently serving as a NUGA FISU Student Ambassador for the 2025 to 2026 cycle, Esther operates at the intersection of sports medicine and sports administration. Through her work, she continues to promote inclusiveness, education, awareness, structure, and volunteer development, helping to strengthen systems and create opportunities for student athletes and volunteers alike.
Beyond her roles, her experience working within high level sports environments has provided her with valuable insight into global sports governance and administration. She remains committed to building capacity, mentoring volunteers, and advocating for a more structured and professional approach to university sports in Nigeria.
Guided by her personal philosophy, If you are going to do something, give it your all, Esther embodies the values of discipline, excellence, and service.
Her journey reflects the broader vision of NUGA, developing students who are not only engaged in sports but are also equipped with leadership, technical, and professional skills to drive long term impact.
At NUGA, we celebrate individuals like Kolawole Esther who represent the strength, potential, and evolving future of university sports in Nigeria.
As we continue to spotlight outstanding students across institutions, we encourage more students to become part of the NUGA Volunteer Network, where opportunities exist to contribute, grow, and be recognised.
