Requirements & Procedures for Online Accreditation of Athletes — Nigerian University Games Association

 Requirements
Section 1

Athlete Eligibility

Athletes must meet NUGA's eligibility criteria for the 28th Games. All three conditions must be satisfied:

  • 1 Must be a bona fide undergraduate or postgraduate (Master's / Doctoral) student at the participating university.
  • 2 Year of entry must correspond to the 2020/2021 admission period.
  • 3 Must not exceed 27 years of age by October 2026.
Section 2

University Registration

Each university's Director of Sports must complete the following steps:

1 Obtain a University Login Code

  • Submit the Director of Sports' functional email address to the Chairman, Accreditation Committee.
  • Provide the Director's personal phone number as the password.
  • Upon verification, unique login credentials will be issued to access the portal.
  • Log in to the 28th NUGA Games Registration Portal using issued credentials.
  • Complete the institution's profile accurately before proceeding.

2 Purchase Athlete Registration Tokens

Pay for the required number of athlete registration tokens based on the total athletes to be registered from your university.

3 Receive Payment Confirmation

Confirm that payment has been successfully processed and tokens have been allocated to the institution.

4 Log Out

Log out of the registration portal after completing all registration steps.

Section 3

Athlete Registration

  • 1 Log in to the 28th NUGA Games Registration Portal at nuga.com.ng.
  • 2 Use one (1) registration token to register one (1) athlete and complete the athlete's profile.
Section 4

Upload Required Documents (Athletes)

Each athlete must upload the following documents to complete registration:

Student ID Card
JAMB Admission Letter (Coloured)
National ID Number (NIN)
NYSC Discharge Certificate (PG only)
University Degree Certificate (PG only)
Passport Photo (White Background)
Section 5

Sports / Event Registration

Each athlete must register for all intended sports and events on the portal.

Maximum Limit: An athlete may register for a maximum of two (2) sports, but may enter multiple events within each sport.

Example: Athletics — 100m, 200m, Long Jump  |  Swimming — 50m Freestyle, 100m Butterfly
Failure to register for any sport or event will result in disqualification from that sport or event.
Section 6

University Student Portal Requirements

The official university student portal (.edu domain) for each athlete must contain the following for the 2026/2027 academic session:

  • 1 2026/2027 course registration
  • 2 Previous academic results
  • 3 2026/2027 school fees / payment status
  • 4 Clear coloured passport photograph on a white background (max file size: 10 KB)
  • 5 Any other information that will satisfy the Accreditation Committee confirming student status
Section 7

Registration Form Approval

Each athlete's registration form must be printed and duly signed by:

  • The student (athlete)
  • The Director of Sports / Chairman
  • The University Registrar — with the official university stamp affixed
Section 8

Postgraduate Students Eligibility & Requirements

Maximum of 5 postgraduate students (Master's & PhD) may be registered per university. All must be verifiable on the official university student portal (.edu domain).

Required Documents:

  • 1 First Degree Statement of Result
  • 2 NYSC Discharge Certificate
  • 3 Current registration form for the ongoing programme
  • 4 Evidence of payment of current school fees
  • 5 Master's / PhD student identity card
All information must also be reflected on the university's .edu student portal for verification.
Section 9

Officials Registration

All officials and coaches from each university must be duly registered on the NUGA official portal using the same institution code / password.

Official Steps

Accreditation Procedures

1 Online Accreditation Portal

A user-friendly online portal has been developed. Please visit nuga.com.ng to register and upload required documents.

2 Unique Accreditation Codes / Passwords

Each university's Director of Sports receives a unique accreditation code/password granting exclusive access to the NUGA portal.

3 Verify Uploaded Documents

Accreditation officers will verify the authenticity of all uploaded documents to ensure compliance with NUGA's eligibility criteria.

4 Generate Online Accreditation Temporary Tags

Directors must generate temporary accreditation tags (duly signed and stamped forms). ICT officers are to bring them for physical verification.

5 Accreditation Status Tracking

The Director of Sports will be able to track the accreditation status of all athletes in real-time via the portal.

6 Maintain Accreditation Records

Accurate records of accredited athletes and universities will be maintained for future reference.
