Prof Is-haq Oloyede, Registrar of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, has pledged to support NUGA's bid to compete in the World University Games in Chengdu, China, in 2023. On Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, members of the NUGA executive made a courtesy call to the Registrar. Under the leadership of Prof. Oloyede, JAMB has demonstrated a strong commitment to sports development in Nigerian higher education institutions by sponsoring the JAMB Football Tournament, which is held among the country's tertiary institutions. Prof. Oloyede thanked the NUGA executives for their visit and reaffirmed his commitment to things that will help Nigerian students succeed, including sports. According to NUGA President Mr. Emeka Ogbu, NUGA is committed to fulfilling its mandate of creating a dual career path for students. Arccoding to the NUGA President Mr. Emeka Ogbu, NUGA is committed to to deliver on its mandate in creating a dual career path for Nigerian students in educationa nd sports; We hope to use this opportunity ones again to give our students the best opportunities out there". Mr. Ogbu congratulated the Jamb Registrar on his leadership and commitment to student development in academics and sports. "We commend the wonderful job you and your office have done in ensuring that Nigerian students have a path towards education, and your commitment to sports, which has been evident in your support for football events and even other sports organizing bodies in our academic system including NUGA," he said. The 31st FISU World University Games (Universiade) will be held from July 27th to August 8th, 2023 in Chengdu, China. The games, which have been postponed twice due to the Covid 19 Pandemic (2021), are set to provide Nigerian student athletes with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to compete at the highest level of university sports competition. This is an opportunity to promote and provide equal opportunities for our student athletes, as they will have a lifetime experience  against counterparts from around the world. For our students, the Universiade is an important platform for nation building. At the games, the association will compete in seven sports: athletics, badminton, judo, table tennis, taekwondo, tennis, and swimming. Invitations will be given based on merit of form and performance during the 26th NUGA Games at the University of Lagos in 2022.
