Welcome to the 27th NUGA Games, University of Jos 2025

The Nigerian University Games Association (NUGA) proudly announces the 27th NUGA Games, to be hosted by the prestigious University of Jos, fondly known as the Home of Peace and Tourism. The NUGA Games have long stood as a unifying festival of sports, strengthening bonds across Nigerias universities and celebrating the spirit of excellence, diversity, and resilience that defines our youth.

A total of 4,181 athletes will compete in 23 different sports, supported by 1,000 volunteers, 67 accredited media personnel, and 193 observing athletes from universities newly registered under NUGA. The featured sports include Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Chess, Cricket, Handball, Judo, Table Tennis, Taekwondo, Lawn Tennis, Scrabble, Swimming, Football, Volleyball, Hockey, Boxing, E-Sports, Rowing and Yachting, Karate, Strongman Rugby, Beach Volleyball, and Squash.

The Games scheduled from November 6th to 16th, 2025, with the Opening Ceremony scheduled for November 8th. Student athletes will begin arriving from November 6th to camp at the University of Jos hostels in preparation for what promises to be an unforgettable experience.

According to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Prof. Ishaya Tanko, We’re not just hosting another NUGA we’re hosting to win, to set new benchmarks, and to celebrate new talent.” With this year’s theme, Unity, Play in Peace, the Games will be a celebration of talent, sportsmanship, and unity that reflects NUGAs mission to promote peace and excellence through sports.

Beyond competition, the UNIJOS 2025 will ignite economic and cultural growth across Plateau State, with tourism, hospitality, and local enterprises set to thrive. From the rolling beauty of Sherri Hills to the serenity of the Wildlife Park and the creative pulse of the Art Gallery, Jos is ready to welcome the nation. It’s more than an event it’s a statement of unity, creativity, and national pride.
