FUTMINNA Claim Football Title After Dramatic Final in Jos

The Federal University of Technology Minna (FUTMINNA) emerged victorious in the men’s football event at the 27th NUGA Games, defeating Ekiti State University (EKSU) 2–1 in a thrilling final held on Friday at the University of Jos.

In a tightly contested match, both teams displayed determination and quality, but it was FUTMINNA who found the decisive goal late in the game. The win capped off an impressive tournament for the Minna side, who consistently showed discipline, tactical awareness, and clinical finishing throughout their campaign.

FUTMINNA’s road to the title included a hard-fought 2–1 semi-final victory over Taraba State University (TSU). In that encounter, FUTMINNA held their composure under pressure, edging out a resilient TSU team to book their place in the final.

EKSU also enjoyed a remarkable run in the competition. Their powerful attacking display in the semi-final earned them a confident 3–1 win over Kaduna State University (KASU), securing their spot in the championship match. Despite a strong performance in the final, EKSU were unable to break through FUTMINNA’s defensive organization and were forced to settle for the silver medal.

Meanwhile, KASU bounced back from their semi-final disappointment to claim the bronze medal after winning the third-place playoff, rewarding their consistent effort throughout the tournament.

This year’s men’s football competition showcased high-quality action, fierce rivalry, and outstanding individual talent. FUTMINNA’s triumph stands as a testament to their preparation, resilience, and belief—a victory that will be remembered as one of the highlights of the 27th NUGA Games.
