Cairo to Host 12th All Africa University Games in 2026

The Federation of African University Sports FASU has officially announced that the 12th All Africa University Games will be held from 9th to 16th August 2026 in Cairo, Egypt, bringing together student athletes and university stakeholders from across the continent.

Hosted by the Egyptian Universities Sports Federation in collaboration with leading institutions in Egypt, the Games will serve as a major platform for competition, collaboration, and continental engagement in university sports, with Nigeria among the invited participating nations.

The FASU Games remain one of Africas leading university sporting events, featuring a wide range of disciplines including athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, swimming, table tennis, and combat sports. The event also extends beyond competition, incorporating key developmental and educational programmes such as the FASU Pre Games Scientific Conference, the Vice Chancellors Forum, and the FISU FASU NUSF Seminar, all aimed at strengthening governance, research, and collaboration within the university sports ecosystem.

Additional initiatives such as the FASU International Volunteers Programme and cultural activities will further enhance participation, offering students opportunities for leadership development, intercultural exchange, and hands on experience.

As preparations begin, universities across Africa are expected to participate in what promises to be a significant gathering of talent, innovation, and unity. The 2026 edition continues FASUs commitment to advancing university sports, promoting excellence, and strengthening connections across the continent.
