UNIPORT Launches 2026 Sports Season with Sports Unite Initiative
The University of Port Harcourt UNIPORT, through the Office of the SUG Director of Sports, officially launched its 2026 campus sporting season with the Sports Unite Press Conference and Draws Ceremony, held on 6th February 2026 at the Law Auditorium.
The event brought together student leaders, athletes, and partners, marking the beginning of a multi sport initiative designed to strengthen unity, encourage participation, and promote active lifestyles within the university community.
During the ceremony, organisers conducted official draws and outlined the structure of the competitions, setting the framework for the season ahead. The initiative features a wide range of sporting activities including football, basketball, volleyball, womenâs sports, athletics, esports, and board games, highlighting a balanced focus on both physical and intellectual competition.
As the season progresses, the Uniport Champions League and Conference League have already reached the quarter-final stage, while other competitions are set to commence, building momentum across campus.
With strong backing from partners and growing student involvement, Sports Unite is positioned to become a key driver of campus engagement, talent discovery, and inter faculty collaboration throughout the academic session.
