Fan of the Week Spotlight, NUGA Student Volunteer Oluwapelumi Banwo
At the Nigerian University Games Association NUGA, we remain committed to recognising and celebrating students who contribute meaningfully to the growth of university sports beyond the field of play.
For February, Oluwapelumi Banwo was featured as our Fan of the Week, in recognition of her impact, dedication, and active involvement within the NUGA ecosystem.
A student of Human Kinetics at the University of Ibadan, Oluwapelumi distinguished herself as a passionate sports enthusiast with interests spanning tennis and handball. Her commitment to sports extended beyond participation, as she actively contributed to the operational and media aspects of university sports.
During the 27th NUGA Games held at the University of Jos in 2025, she served in the Media and Communication Unit as a Video Editor, where she played a key role in documenting and visually telling the story of the Games. Her contributions supported the visibility and digital engagement of the event, reflecting the growing importance of media in sports development.
Beyond her involvement at NUGA, Oluwapelumi demonstrated a well rounded profile as a content creator, volunteer, coach, and student leader. Her interests in mentoring, sports development, and creative expression further highlighted her commitment to personal growth and community impact.
Guided by her personal philosophy Embrace positivity in everything you do, even if it seems like its not going to work out, she embodied the values of resilience, service, and continuous improvement.
