UN Volunteers Expand Global Opportunities for Changemakers
The United Nations Volunteers UNV programme continues to provide opportunities for individuals to contribute to sustainable development and humanitarian action through volunteering across the world. Through its Global Talent Pool, UNV connects skilled and passionate volunteers with assignments that support the work of the United Nations and its partners in communities worldwide.
The programme offers national, international, and online volunteering opportunities across sectors including education, health, youth development, communications, governance, climate action, peacebuilding, and humanitarian response. Under UNVs updated Conditions of Service, volunteer assignments are now more flexible and inclusive, with opportunities available for individuals aged 18 to 80. Assignment categories are based on experience, ranging from Community Volunteers with no prior experience to Expert Volunteers, while placements may be full time, part time, short term, remote, or onsite depending on organisational needs. Volunteers also receive appropriate support and allowances to maintain a safe and adequate standard of living during their assignments, although they serve as volunteers rather than salaried UN staff.
