Omokukpo Moses Etana Continues to Make His Mark in Global Sports Administration
Omokukpo Moses Etana continues to build an impressive career in sports administration, demonstrating how university sports, leadership, and volunteerism can create opportunities that extend far beyond the campus environment.
Having graduated with a Masters degree in Sport Administration from the Russian International Olympic University, Moses has developed expertise across sport management, marketing, event coordination, coaching, and sports branding. His journey reflects a commitment to continuous learning and the advancement of sport through both academic and practical experience.
His international exposure includes working with the United Nations Games 2025, where he contributed to marketing and coordination operations. He also completed an internship at PaddleHub Sirius Sports Venue within the iconic Fisht Olympic Stadium in Sochi, gaining valuable experience in sport facility marketing and administration in an Olympic environment.
Across Africa, Moses has served as Marketing Executive for the Nigerian Youth Football Development League, Monitoring Officer for the Southampton FC International Academy Partnership Programme, and Administrative Assistant at Turf Arena Sports Center, supporting the delivery of major sporting events, including the Julius Berger Games 2024 and the Abuja Elite League.
Volunteerism has remained central to his journey. He has contributed to the 11th All African University Games, the ECOWAS Abuja Marathon, the West African University Games WAUG, and several programmes of the Nigerian University Games Association NUGA, providing support in media, marketing, and event operations.
During his tenure as Sports Director of the University of Ibadan Students Union, Moses championed several initiatives that strengthened campus sports. He launched the Pick a Sport initiative, organised free training programmes for aspiring sports journalists, and founded the University Shooting Stars Fans Club, creating more opportunities for student participation and engagement.
Beyond administration, Moses is a Grade 1 Football Referee with the Nigeria Referee Association, a multi-sport athlete, and a visual identity designer whose creative expertise has supported sports marketing and branding. His academic research has focused on fan loyalty, sports branding, and the development of emerging football leagues in Nigeria.
His journey continues to demonstrate the value of leadership, service, and lifelong learning in sport, while inspiring young people to pursue excellence both within and beyond university sports.
