LA28 Opens Applications for 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games Volunteer Programme
The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games LA28 has officially opened applications for its Games-time Volunteer Programme, inviting individuals from around the world to become part of one of the largest volunteer operations in Olympic and Paralympic history. The programme aims to recruit approximately 60,000 volunteers to support the successful delivery of the Games.
Volunteers will contribute across a wide range of functional areas, helping to welcome athletes and spectators, support competition and venue operations, assist with ceremonies, communications, medical services, technology, transportation, and other key aspects of Games delivery. Volunteer opportunities are organised across eight major role categories, with specialist positions also available for applicants with relevant qualifications and experience.
To be eligible, applicants must be at least 18 years old at the time of application, demonstrate proficiency in English, and commit to a minimum of 10 non consecutive volunteer shifts, each lasting approximately eight hours, during either the Olympic or Paralympic Games period. Volunteers are not required to be residents of the United States, making the programme accessible to applicants from around the world.
The application process includes submitting an online application, followed by an assessment for shortlisted candidates. Successful applicants will receive volunteer offers, complete role specific training, and participate in venue preparation before officially joining the LA28 Volunteer Crew during the Games.
Applicants will also have the opportunity to indicate their preferred volunteer role categories and locations. While most positions will be based within the Greater Los Angeles region, volunteer opportunities will also be available in several host cities, including Oklahoma City, New York City, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis, San José, and San Diego, where selected Olympic events will take place.
