NUGA Receives NANS on Courtesy Visit to Strengthen University Sports Collaboration
The Nigerian University Games Association NUGA on Monday, 27 July 2026, received a courtesy visit from the National Association of Nigerian Students NANS at the NUGA Secretariat, Committee of Vice Chancellors of Nigerian Universities CVCNU, Abuja.
The delegation, led by the National Director of Sports, Comrade Ojumoola T. Miracle, visited to strengthen collaboration between both organisations in advancing university sports, increasing student participation, and promoting youth development across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
Representing NUGA were the Sports Development Officer, Media and Marketing Officer, Ms. Chidiebere Ezeani, and the Administrative Officer and Communications Strategist, Miss Ogechi Stella Mmeka, who received the delegation on behalf of the Association.
Discussions centred on areas of mutual interest, with both organisations reaffirming their commitment to using university sports as a platform for student engagement, leadership development, talent identification, and national development.
Key discussions focused on preparations for the International Day of University Sport IDUS, collaboration towards the successful hosting of the 28th NUGA Games, strengthening communication between both organisations, and expanding opportunities for student participation in NUGA programmes and activities.
Both organisations also explored opportunities for strategic partnerships and sponsorship to support university sports initiatives while highlighting the importance of stronger collaboration among NUGA, NANS, university administrators, Directors of Sports, and other stakeholders in advancing sports development across Nigerian tertiary institutions.
As part of the meeting, both organisations agreed to establish a direct communication channel to facilitate continuous engagement, improve coordination, and strengthen collaboration on future programmes and initiatives that promote student participation and the growth of university sports.
The courtesy visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of NUGA and NANS to building a sustainable partnership that supports student athlete development, strengthens institutional collaboration, and creates greater opportunities for young people through university sports.
