12th FASU Games: LAUTECH Student Athletes Secure Five Medals In Cairo
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) recorded a strong medal haul at the 12th All Africa University Games (FASU Games), held in Cairo, Egypt, from 8 to 16 September 2026.
The LAUTECH contingent competed in Taekwondo, Judo and Karate, with its student athletes producing five medals across the combat sports. The haul comprised three silver and two bronze medals.
LAUTECH Medal Haul
In Taekwondo, LAUTECH secured two silver medals and one bronze. Olanrewaju Abiola Praise won silver in the women's under 49kg Kyorugi category and also contributed to the silver medal in the female Team Poomsae event. Oladejo Sekinat Ajoke was also part of the silver medal winning female Team Poomsae squad and won bronze in Pair Poomsae.
In Judo, LAUTECH recorded one silver and one bronze medal. Olanrewaju Abiola Praise won silver in the under 60kg category, while Oladimeji Abeeblahi secured bronze in the under 55kg category.
The contingent also included Jimoh Ibrahim, who competed at the Games without securing a medal.
Representing LAUTECH In Cairo
The contingent was led by the Director of Sports, Mrs Olaosebikan Dorcas, alongside Taekwondo coach Adeagbo Mahmud and the student athletes.
Following their successful participation, the LAUTECH contingent presented a plaque of participation to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. R. O. R. Kalilu, marking the university's participation at the continental university sports event.
LAUTECH's five medals in Cairo reflected the participation of its student athletes across Taekwondo and Judo, adding another chapter to the university's involvement in African university sport.
