12th FASU Games: LASUED Student Athlete Florence Wins Taekwondo Gold In Cairo
Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) recorded a medal winning performance at the 12th All Africa University Games (FASU Games), held in Cairo, Egypt, from 8 to 16 September 2026.
The university participated in Taekwondo, Judo and Badminton, with student athlete Florence securing a gold medal in the 67kg Taekwondo event to become LASUED's medal winner at the continental university sports competition.
LASUED's Participation In Cairo
Florence represented LASUED in Taekwondo alongside Oreniyi Deborah, while Fatoye Eniola competed in Badminton and Alli Abdulmalik represented the university in Judo.
Florence's gold medal in the 67kg Taekwondo event marked the university's medal achievement at the Games and highlighted the performance of its student athletes on the continental stage.
LASUED Contingent
The university's sports delegation included Director of Sports Dr Jimmy Adeniyi K and Deputy Director Ms Balogun Yetunde S, who supported the contingent during its participation in Cairo.
The LASUED athletes competed across three sports, representing the university among institutions from across Africa at the 12th FASU Games.
Following their return from Egypt, the contingent is yet to be formally received by the Vice Chancellor and the university management, as LASUED is currently preparing for the forthcoming West Africa University Games (WAUG).
Florence's gold medal adds to LASUED's participation at the 12th FASU Games and provides another achievement for the university as it continues preparations for its next university sports challenge.
